Butterwick's First Cricket Tournament was a day to remember!

Six major companies raised £10,000 for Butterwick Hospice Care by taking part in a Charity Cricket Tournament at the Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground on Friday, 16th September 2011.
The event sponsored by PD Ports was the first Charity Tournament to be held at the world-famous cricket ground which saw PD Ports, ESH Group, Eversheds, Sanderson Weatherall, Cleaners for Causes and Johnson Matthey Catalysts battle it out to be crowned the inaugural champions of the Butterwick Cricket Tournament.
After a competitive day's play PD Ports eventually ran out as winners with Cleaners for Causes close runners up! David Robinson, PD Ports Group CEO, says “Everyone has had a fantastic day out and to top it all, the companies involved have managed to raise a staggering amount of money for the Hospice.”
Anne Cooling, Head of Corporate Development, says “Today’s event has been wonderful and the income raised will provide the highest level of nursing care for local patients and their families. Anne would like to thank all the companies who entered teams. The enthusiasm and support shown from the companies involved has been brilliant and much appreciated by everyone here at Butterwick!”
Each team paid £1,000 to take part in the event, which also featured Regional Chairman of the Lords Taveners Alan Wright as guest speaker. Celebrity cricketers Garreth Breese and Scott Borthwick who gave many team players much valued cricketing advice.
Butterwick would like to thank Tom Seymour, Patricia Robinson and many more at the DCCC for their excellent support when arranging this match and for their unprecedented offer of making the Butterwick Cricket Tournament an annual event.
