North East Chamber of Commerce provides Christmas Cheer for Butterwick Children's Hospice

The North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC) has this year once again provided donations to two of the region’s charities in place of sending corporate Christmas cards.

NECC’s decision to donate to charity in recent years was made in an effort to be more environmentally conscious and also to support the many worthy charities based in the North East.

NECC President Martyn Pellew this year nominated Stockton-based Butterwick Children’s Hospice and the Calvert Trust Kielder to receive £500 each towards the valuable service they provide to the region.

Martyn Pellew said:

“We believe it is more important than ever to support the region’s charities. The economic climate has been tough this year and charitable donations have inevitably fallen. By sending Christmas wishes to our members via our e-newsletter, not only have we taken a small step in helping the environment, we have also saved money that we feel would be put to much better use by these two charities.”

Anne Cooling, Head of Corporate Development at Butterwick Hospice added:

“On behalf of everyone here at Butterwick Hospice I would like to thank Martyn for this kind initiative of donating £500 in lieu of sending corporate Christmas cards.

“This donation will help to ensure that Butterwick Children’s Hospice continues to provide the best treatment, loving care and a safe home from home environment for children to spend time, with or without their parents.

Specialist clinical and emotional care is offered to the whole family at Butterwick House which is the only Children’s Hospice between Newcastle and Wetherby caring for children from birth to nineteen years and their families.

“Our Share a Card initiative is a great way for local companies to support the Hospice and is growing year on year.”
